1. How do I locate a pest?
This depends on the pest. Woodworms and the like can be located very well with the help of a stethoscope. Termites can be found using a thermal imaging camera
2. Can microwave treatment cause a fire?
No, we work with temperatures up to a maximum of 90°C. The wood structure changes at a temperature of 120°C. A smoldering fire only occurs at a temperature above 100°C. Measurements in the core of the wood are therefore absolutely necessary
3. Will I receive an invoice with VAT shown?
Yes, our company, based in Germany, is subject to German tax law. We are obliged to issue a correct invoice with VAT shown. Entrepreneurs in the EU with a valid VAT ID number receive our products at the net price
4. Which pests can I eliminate?
Microwave can be used against all wood-destroying pests such as common rodent beetles (woodworms), house beetles, spotted rodent beetles and termites. The only thing that needs to be taken into account is the lethal temperature and the treatment should be tailored accordingly
5. What happens to my solar system?
Contact the manufacturer of the system and follow their recommendation
6. Do I have to remove electrical/electronic devices from the room?
No, we recommend disconnecting said devices from the power supply and, if necessary, covering them with a metallic foil (e.g. aluminum foil). Mobile phones, tablets, notebooks, etc. must be removed from the expansion area
7. If I have a pest infestation, do I have to treat the entire house?
No, partial treatment is completely sufficient
8. Does the microwave “radiate”?
No, as soon as the device is switched off, no more “radiation” comes out. It's like a light switch. Switch off = light off
9. Can I operate the device from a “normal” socket?
Yes, the device has a power consumption of approx. 1.5 kWh and can therefore be operated from a standard household socket
10. Is it difficult to carry out treatment?
No, once you have located the pests, you put the device in position, measure the starting temperature and start the treatment. After a short time, the temperature is measured again. This is done until the lethal temperature is exceeded by approx. 10°C. The treated wood cools slowly. The treatment is completed
11. What do I do in the event of repairs?
If you need repairs, please feel free to contact us. If a repair in our workshop becomes necessary, you can simply send us your device. Since our company is based in Europe/Germany, you do not need any additional accompanying documents for the return
12. What happens to screws, nails, etc.?
Metal objects such as screws, nails, cables, etc. reflect on the microwave. Exception: Wire pins with a length of approx. 30 mm and a diameter of less than 1 mm. These wire pins can absorb the microwave and convert it into heat, i.e. they become hot
13. Is a single application sufficient?
Yes, but renewed infestation by the brood that has already hatched is possible. Further treatment in the following year may be necessary
14. Is there a health risk for the user?
No, there is no health risk if you follow the safety instructions in our user manual for use. Our measuring devices offer additional security
15. What happens to my fiber optic connection?
Objects such as glass, fiberglass, porcelain, etc. are penetrated by the microwave without much resistance
16. Can I treat wood that is clad and surrounded by insulation?
Insulating materials such as rock wool, cellulose, Styrofoam or similar are penetrated by the microwave without much resistance. The same applies to cladding materials such as plasterboard, Styrodur, tiles, wallpaper or similar
17. Can you guarantee successful treatment?
Yes, if they comply with the requirements of DIN68800. This is described in detail in our user manual
18. How quickly can I treat a bar?
The treatment duration depends on various parameters such as type of wood, wood moisture and thickness. A general statement cannot be made
19. Can I treat a wooden floor with the device?
Yes, our device can be operated in all positions
20. Can the device be used prophylactically?
No, prophylactic measures with the microwave are pointless
21. Which beam thicknesses can I treat with your microwave?
With our device you can treat up to 40 cm thickness if you use the device alternately from both sides. However, we recommend using two devices at the same time for beam thicknesses of 26 cm or more
